I am just starting my Mare back on this. It really seems to help her gut. It also is a better product for the cost. The product does have some lightness in consistency but overall the product is great.
Since starting my mare on Protek GI I have noticed that she is eating better (finishing all of her hay everyday) and that she overall seems more comfortable.
After a long and expensive ulcer treatment regimen, this was the vet recommended product. I have to assume it is performing as claimed. My very picky eater does mind it topped on his food. That is a HUGE win in itself. Will continue to use it as per vet's advice.
I’ve been feeding Protek GI on my vet’s recommendation. First to my senior horse who coliced frequently and suffered from slow motility and impactions to sooth and protect his stomach. After a while he refused to eat it, and no amount of creativity could change his mind. Now I feed it to my 5 year old who has recurrent and highly Inflammatory ulcers. He’s been on it for 2 years or so, and it has not seemed to affect the incidents of ulcers. Most recently, after two months of Gastroguard treatment, we put him back on Protek GI. After one month, the ulcers returned. We will be resuming Gastroguard; my vet is reaching out to Dr. Sykes for a consult.
