Designed for horses for TOTAL digestive health and during times of gastrointestinal (GI) upset.
What is PROTEK GI? PROTEK GI is Kelato's ultimate supplement, targeting both stomach and hindgut health.
The research shows that daily supplementation with PROTEK GI reduces the incidence and severity of gastric ulcers following discontinuation of omeprazole.
PROTEK GI's unique formulationtargets stomach and hindgut health by providing coating agents that form an alkalineslime barrier over the stomach wall to help protect against acid burn while buffering gastric acid and strengthening the mucosal lining. Levucell SC® yeast probiotic and Agrimos® yeast prebiotic work synergistically to help reduce lactic acid in the hindgut (stabilizing hindgut pH) and stimulate the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria.
PROTEK GI is formulated in collaboration with world leading EGUS authority Dr Ben Sykes (BSc BVMS MS MBA DipACVIM PhD FHEA).

My mare was extremely touchy with grooming to the point of scary. After treating for ulcers, I started using Protek GI twice a day. It’s been almost a year and she’s a completely different horse. Happy, calm, loves grooming.
I’ve had a good experience with Protek GI for helping with horse ulcer prevention. It seems to work well, but it is definitely on the expensive side. My biggest complaint is that it’s a powder—the powder gets everywhere and always makes me sneeze! Shipping also took a little longer than I’m used to, so I almost didn’t time my next order correctly. Overall, I like the product, but I’d love to see a less messy and wasteful format.
Our mare had a problem with ulcers in both the squamous and glandular parts of the gut. Not pretty. After 8 weeks of a rigorous treatment and scopes, she was ulcer free. Then we thought, what can we do to prevent this from occurring again. 5 smaller feedings per day in slow feeder bags and Protea GI. She has been doing very well, and is back in work with a lessening of the behavioral issues she had with the ulcers. We can see the difference and she loves the Protea GI.
this product is great. my picky horse eats it easily and he won’t eat bute powder in his food. BUT as i was reading reviews about the packaging being wasteful, it made me think of how XFit packages their product. it’s a big bag of powder in a cardboard box and they ship with no outer box at all, just the product itself. i’ve had zero issues with the box being damaged on arrival and i’ve gotten two boxes a month for years. your product would be perfect in that same set up and produce a lot less non recyclable waste! just an idea, the product itself is great!
My horse had some reoccurring colic episodes and was having issues with loose manure. My nutritionist recommended Protek GI. He’s been on it for 4 days now and is having normal manure and hasn’t had any episodes of being uncomfortable. Excited to see how it helps him long term. He eats it just fine in his grain with some added water and a little apple sauce!
1. Coats Stomach Lining: Pectin forms a gel-like layer over the stomach to help to support the lining against the corrosive effects of gastric acid.
2. Supports Healthy Stomach Lining: Lecithin is a phospholipid that improves the integrity of the epithelial cells to help maintain a healthy stomach lining.
3. Promotes the Stomach’s Natural Defences: Multiple buffers combine with pectin and lecithin to help reduce the irritation of gastric acid at the level of the stomach lining, where it matters the most.
4. Supports Hindgut Health: Levucell SC® yeast probiotic and Agrimos® yeast prebiotic work synergistically to help reduce lactic acid in the hindgut (stabilizes pH) and stimulate the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria.

What’s the new research saying?
PROTEK GI can help your horse transition from treatment to management.
The risk of squamous ulcers returning is highest in the 2–4 days following omeprazole treatment. A strong focus on management practices can be implemented to protect the stomach during this time, but omeprazole tapering may be a thing of the past. Click HERE to check out this new research.
In highly ulcerogenic environments, squamous ulcers can return to pre-treatment levels in as little as 3 days. To read on this research click HERE.
Transitioning to PROTEK GI (also known as GastroAID Recovery) when you need to stop omeprazole, has been shown to reduce the recurrence rate of squamous ulcers in a high-risk population of racehorses. To read more on this research click HERE.
PROTEK GI can help minimize the risk of squamous ulcers returning in the crucial 2 – 4 day window after stopping omeprazole.
PROTEK GI 11.5 lbs (5.25 kg) is the perfect transition size providing your horse a 3-week supply* during the highest period of ulcer recurrence post omeprazole treatment.
*based on the recommended feeding rate for a 1100 lbs (500 kg) horse.
Looking for a long-term supply of PROTEK GI? We have got you covered with 23 lbs (10.5 kg) and 34.7lbs (15.75 kg) size options.

She loves it!
I chose Protek GI because the reviews were great concerning gut health. My mate has a history of ulcers and when she had a recent, not feeling so good, I decided to give Protek GI a try. And…the reviews were positive about the horses l liking it. Well, all is well, Skittles loves it and seems to be feeling great!

Excellent customer service experience
I've only just started tapering Larry onto the Protek GI so I can't speak to the product itself as of yet but the customer service was amazing. I had many questions and they were extremely responsive and informative with each of my emailed questions. We haven't worked up to a full dose yet but so far my picky eater has been eating the product without issue. Hopeful for great results for my ulcer prone guy!

She actually eats it!
My horse is very picky but soaked with her grain and a little water and she licks her tub clean. She's been on it for about 2 weeks and so far I've noticed less fussing on the crossties, less yawning and much more comfortable under saddle.
